And a VERY good afternoon to everyone! Are you ready to try your hand at something completely different from anything we've done here at Club Posh? Something creative, but a little off the wall? Well, this FIRST round will be a little off the wall, but then we'll get more serious, K?*VBG*

We've been brain storming behind the scenes here at Club Posh for a way to offer challenges that even our scrappers would enjoy...and we've come up with our Scramping Challenge. That's "scrapping" and "stamping" combined.;) Each challenge will be a little different from the others, just like our current stamping challenges are each a little different...but we'll still be asking you to tax your creative strenghth, flex those artistic muscles, and have fun with our newest Challenge creation.*G*

Now, for our stampers, we're asking you to decorate a 6"X6" postcard. (Ok now scrappers, don't tell 'em it's really a 6" square scrapbook page, or we might turn them off to the idea!*wink* ) For each challenge we will give you either a product that must be used on that postcard (page layout), or a picture that you must use on your postcard (page layout). And we're going to start off our first Scramping Challenge by asking you do decorate a postcard using the image that I'll be attaching to this message.

First off, let me tell everyone that printing out the image is NOT HARD!!! I've already taken care of the sizing problems, the image should print out perfectly for you. To print the image, all you do is put the pointer of your mouse over the image, and RIGHT click. You'll be given a little menu...you can either choose "print image", which will send the image directly to your printer for you, or you can save the image to your computer (I usually save to my desktop so I don't have to search my computer to find it*wink*). If you want to play around with the picture digitally, then you may want to save the file to your computer.;) You can print it in color, or black and white if you want to save on ink, makes no never mind to this Challenge, K?*G* You can also change the size of the image if you like, it's up to you. Right now, it prints out at about 2 3/8 X 3 3/8 if you trim the tiny white border I left around it when I scanned, K?

After you've got your image, all you have to do is cut it out, and use it as the main image on your 6 X 6 postcard! (Scrappers...you KNOW what I'm talking about here.*wink*). You can use stamps to decorate, or stickers...you can use borders, photo corners, you can matte the image or not, whatever you prefer. You can use ANY kind of embellishments on your page..err, I mean postcard, so there are no chains on your creativity. :D

AND...if you happen to be one who keeps DIGITAL scrapbooks, that's cool, too! Just do your thing, make your page 6 X 6, and use the image given in each Challenge as your main image, and you're cooking! So even those that don't own a stamp OR a scrapbook can still take part in these Challenges!!!*VBG*

We're hoping that with this Challenge we'll ALL learn new techniques, page layout ideas, different ways to deal with the same image, and we'll also get to see different ideas using the exact same image...which we can then transfer over to our OTHER images! And I do mean we'll ALL learn, stampers and scrappers alike!:D

And a brief background on the image with which we're starting off this new Challenge. This image was sent to me by a dog breeder friend of mine, with a note that it was a "FREE dog", looking for a good home. I'll say no more, but do know that the dog no longer needs a home. (He's found one here at Club Posh!*wink*)

And as with all of Club Posh as of TODAY...we do ask that you use at least ONE thing that's Posh, or that's endorsed by Dee...it can be one stamp, one of Dee's papers, Marvy markers or ink pads, stickers, WHATEVER, and you only need to use ONE of those. And we do ask that you give credits for products used. Such as Heart Stamp by Hero Arts, or Memories ink pad...so that other Club members will know what products were used if they'd like to duplicate.

If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to post them. And if we're all ready, here's your image...LET THE CHALLENGE BEGIN!!!:D

Ok, did you like the image we chose for this first round of Scramping?:D TOLD you this would be a little "off the wall" first time round....*LOL*

And just to give you an idea of how easy this can be, I've even done a page myself! HEY! This makes exactly 3 pages I've scrapped now!*VBG* OH, and for those of you that don' t know, I'm in the process of selling my home...and most of my papers and LOTS of my stamping stuff is already packed... and yet I got this page together in under an hour. HEY, for the slowest stamper in the world, that's RECORD time!*ROFLMBO* Ok, here's my Challenge creation...I call it All American Dog! (Just so I could also use it for Joan's current Challenge.*G*)

Credits:
Posh Flag stamp
dog with bones stamp by Magenta (sorry, they wrote the number in pencil and it can no longer be read)
Marvy Markers
Tombow blue marker
dog bisquits by Milkbone (I scanned real dog bones at 50%*G*)
lettering is stickers by Stickopotamus

Let the laughing begin!:D

Well I hope I have met the challenge.
Char thought I might escape by leaving for Spain very soon;)
Wrong:rolleyes: Here it is:-

Newspaper image by Posh Impressions/All Night Media
Triple up flower ( to make a rosette) by Posh/All Night Media
Memories Black dye ink pad
Dees Red signature brush marker by Marvy
Silver faux eyelets
Black/Red/ White and Burgandy cardstock
Dog clip art courtsy of I.R. Stamper
Epsom Photoimpressions software.

Do you think the editor in the photograph looks a little like Warren;)

Do I qualify Char?
Stamping hugs and thanks for the challenge

:D Joan, you qualify with flying colors! But what is a "faux eyelet"? Are they like a sticker or something? Don't think I've seen those yet!:D

Now, I've had a few emails asking about the "dog"... it's a morphed picture, y'all, it's a man's face morphed onto a dogs photo!*LOL* I thought it would make for some fun pages...er, postcards, I meant to say ;) , and so far, I'd say I'm right!:D

Wonderful, Joan! Really cool to use the flower like that as the top of the ribbon. I've copied this picture now I've got to think up a quick theme to make my challenge card or page. This is fun!

Char , you are correct in assuming that the faux eyelets are like stickers.

We get lots of "peel offs" ( I think you might call them "class appeals", and often the mini eyelets are used to fill in the smaller spaces.

They have been around in the UK a long time, and I know some are imported from Holland.

They are particually handy when you don't want to get out the hammer and eyelet setter late at night;)

I am so looking forward to seeing other members challenge results:D

I did know about the "morphed" dog, but I am a little unsure about American humour, so I played safe with my creation!

warm wishes Joan

Well, here is my attempt, the photo was just too funny for me to take too seriously...;)

So here's the scoop:
Background papers: provocraft slab IV
Doghouse: boards are posh wooden frame slats
roof: diagonal half of the mosaic frame
banner: posh frame set banner stamp
letters: provocraft alphabitties wedge black letter stickers
pawnote: hero arts dog paw stamp
Inks: dee's marvy markers black, brown

Hope it meets the challenge!

Tooooo funny Darby. Do my eyes deceive me or is that a vacum cleaner in the right hand corner? This challenge does tickle the funny bone, as well as tap all that Posh creative energy.

Fortunately, I am married to a great guy who KNOWS that gifts for me include craft supplies and power tools:D
I did get a vacuum one christmas, but it was a power vacuum system for the workshop, and it was welcome. Any gifts that assume I am a domestic person are sadly off the mark!

It's a lazy Saturday afternoon and I felt like some fun, and the DOG scramping challenge set me in motion.

Here is my creation using the Posh bandana image and the new key image. I used Antique Linen Distress Ink (Tim Holtz) for the keys and Ranger's Adirondack Ginger for the bandana. The signage was all computer generated.

I love the wanted poster, what a cute idea! And what a great way to combine computer images and lettering with stamping!

I just love what all of you have done to come up with in the challenge. I have printed the picture, but not sure when I will be able to complete the challenge. Maybe in between wedding plans for a little rest and relaxation I can come up with a design....meanwhile I am enjoying what everyone has done. Keep it up. And they are all GREAT! Hugs, Verna

Well, here is my postcard that I came up with. I couldn't resist playing with this scramping idea, even though I should have been working cleaning house or freezing peas. But, oh, well, those chores don't run away, do they?:D Oh, the big tree is by A Stamp in the Hand and the rest of the stamps are by Posh Impressions-All Night Media. I filled in the sky and grass with chalks and then sprayed with a workable fixative spray.

Well done Verna. Another great addition to this challenge. Nice coloring. How did you apply the chalk?

vangerhofer
07-08-2004, 05:47 AM
The chalk is applied with eye makeup applicators which are little handles with sponges on the ends. Works great for chalks and inks from an ink pad to color in images. Afterwards, I sprayed the chalks with a workable fixative spray to make sure they stay on the paper. Hope that helps..and thanks everyone for all the compliments on the postcard. Hugs, Verna

Yea! makes it easier to find, too.

Yeah, finally after many tries, I got the message and the dog in the thread together. Now I must work on sizing. Oh well, I can't learn everything at once. Glad you liked the message.

All quotes cut with Provo Craft scissors and edged with POSH Accent Pen (gold). Top quote "Got that run down feeling" is a "Judith" stamp F-206. The Aspirin bottle was reduced to 65%. Bottom quote was typed on computer. Ice Pack (hand drawn) was colored with Marvy Brush Markers.

Finally, after following Char's directions to the letter I had the dog the right size. I've been such a nuniance you all are probably not going to let me play again EVER.

Well, I've finally been able to get some stamping done and I managed to give this doggie picture a home on a scrapbook page.

First, after downloading the image I copied it and made a smaller image of it and flipped it to give the mirror effect. I copied it several more times and placed the image next to itself each time to make a background. The larger image is framed with a Posh frame, which I embossed in black. The bones are drawn and colored with Marvy markers. The wording is done with a computer font. The paw print is a stamp by Rubber Stampede.

Hope you laugh and enjoy these "unusual" doggie eyes! LOL!

Okay...I realize that this challenge is a year and a half old, but what the hey? I love the picture, came up with my own idea, and just had to try it!

scrapbook paper: American Traditional Designs (from their *Cats* collection)
stickers (collar frame, yarn, text, pawprints, toy mouse): Karen Foster Design
angel kitty, who swears she did NOT vandalize that poor doggie: PSX
Marvy marker stamp: Posh, from EZ-Mount *Greetings* set
Inks: Marvy markers, natch! :D

Enjoy!
