This is something I posted on another list and got some great feedback on. So, I thought I'd share it here.

Any electrical "tool" I use in my stamping (heat gun, hot pot, Ott light, etc.) is plugged into a surge protector that sits on my work table. It has an "on/off" switch on the side of it that has a small light in it. The light reminds me to turn it off when I'm done. This not only protects the tools from power surges, but also eliminates the possibility of burning anything in case the heat tool or hot pot is accidently knocked over.

Ive read a few posts where this actually happened. Fires were started or carpeting burned because little hands or little paws (as in curious cats!) decided to explore. I don't have to deal with either, but it's just makes things a little safer. Also, I'd hate to have my things fried by a power surge.

Just thought it was worth mentioning.
