Hello
Well, this is my first post! Of course it is a question:)

I just got the rainbow sponge kit ( I love Dee's cards!) I'm trying to get it to work, but can't quite figure it out yet. My problem is figuring out where to put the ink. I put two colors next to one another. After I ran it over the paper, the colors mixed. If I put them farther apart, I got a space in between. Can anyone give me a suggestion or perhaps post a pix of your sponge so I can see where to put the ink? Also, I would love to learn how to make the plaid.
I know I'm going to love this stuff once I figure out how to use it.

Thanks for any advice. I hope someone will take the "newbie" under their wing!
Diane:)

The best way to learn the rainbow sponginging techniques is to see someone doing it. Here's where Dee's video comes in. I bought it first and then a week later when I saw how everything was done, I bought the sponges and inks.

I assure you, you will watch the vid over and over. It will be a good investment. I'm glad I have it to review whenever I need to. Dee is a master teacher. She shows you exactly how to apply the inks for the desired effect.

Keep stampin'

Along with everyone else may I say welcome to Club Posh.....you will love it here everyone is so nice and friendly:-)
I wish I could stand along side of you to help you with your inks and sponges. One thing I will say," is keep at it girl", it is certainly worth going through the learning curve!
I too got myself in a real muddle the first time I tried it........and I teach workshops:D Once I had it right you could not see me behind a mountain of "designer backgrounds";)
When we did it in class, I have never seen as many inky fingers in my life, and do you know who perfected it first..........the oldest lady in the class. Good luck keep trying..........it is worth
it!!

If it is going to take you awhile to get any of Dee's videos, I recommend that you check out how to use the rainbow sponges by going to HGTV and check out some of the idea sheets from when Dee was on the Carol Duvall show. go to the search part and type in Dee's name and there are instuctions that you can print out on how to use the rainbow sponges and inks.

Ok, where to put the ink......on the sponge!:D And no, I'm not being silly!!! See, there are different ways to use those sponges!

The way to ink your sponge for making background papers (or papers to use with punches, to cut out for frames, ect, ect) you only want to ink the very edge of the sponge. Place the tip of the bottle right on the edge and squeeze. Move the tip until the sponge is inked to your liking, then go to the next color. You DO want the colors to touch, but not to muddy......so be careful not to overlap colors, just keep them side by side. Continue until you've got all the colors you want to use on the sponge, then start swiping across glossy cardstock. Now, if you get what appears to be a good swipe, but it starts to peeter out at the end (you know, the ink starts to kinda 'miss' areas) then you're not using enough ink! ANd if your inks start to muddy on the sponge BEFORE you've started to swipe, try using a little less ink, that sounds to me like overinking.;) But remember, a little bit of blending while you're swiping is a GOOD thing, gives you some great colors!

Another way to use the sponge is to use the flat sides of the sponge. Ink up the sponge in a design of your choice, then use the sponge as a stamp! Stamp that baby where ever you like......close to each other, kinda side by side, will give you neat tile effect! Or use a large sponge and make it your center image on a card! Use the rectangular sponges to make 'tile' borders, they're perfect for that!;) Most of all, practice and have FUN! You'll just keep getting better and better at it!:D
