Well, here it is, the beginning of October.....where did the summer go??? Well, wherever it went, it's GONESKY! And it's almost Halloween already!!! Cats, and bats, and spooky houses....yep, that's October! Which got me to thinking, how many of you are making Halloween creations this year? Do you pull out your orange cardstock at this time of year? Or do you instead go for the 'falling leaves' images instead?

I know that fall is the favorite time for many people, all those gorgeous colored leaves on the trees seem to spark many people's creativity. Then again, I also know a lot of stampers that just can't miss an actual 'holiday', and work on their Halloween cards in June, just to make sure they're done in time!:D

So, what's it going to be for YOU this year? Are you pulling out all your bat and 'ghostly' stamps? Or will you be reaching for those Duet leaves instead? Is orange and black going to be your color choices for the fall? Or will you be using more golds and reds? (For those falling leaves!;) ) Or do you even bother with 'timely' themes? Maybe you're the kind that likes to stamp whatever they FEEL like stamping at the time! If so, then what kind of stuff are YOU working on now?

And regardless of what themes you're interested in for the fall, do you have young children??? I'd be interested to see if maybe having younger children might make a difference in your theme preference....you know, small children, so you're more interested in the Halloween theme cause THEY are?;)

Now, my 'youngest child' is 26......and for me, it's falling leaves, all the way!:D I just never liked the colors orange and black when they're put together, actually, I think I'm just not an 'orange' person. Unless it's on leaves, that is!;) But how about y'all?

This year I won't go to the orange for
October 31st. But will go with more orange,
Rust and Brown for my trees, grass and
anything scenic I can use it on.
They are great colors that can bring out
a scene bolder.
I will see lots of orange on the 31st as the
trick & treat come to the door....Joe

Booo! Yup, I got my Halloween cards done for the shut-ins and I used orange, black, ghosts, candy, and witches which were preprinted already on some bargain cardstock that I picked up, so all I did was add my sayings and verses. I did use the orange and black cardstock, because I got a super deal on orange cardstock at the dollar store, too. My youngest child is age 20, and I still like to get festive somewhat because a few trick or treaters, the neighbor kids, still come to the door on Halloween!

I meant to add that I also got my Thanksgiving cards done for the shut-ins too. I used some orange cardstock for some of them, but a lot of them were in more neutral fall colors like tan, browns and rust. I made some Fall rainbow colored salt technique papers and onto these papers I stamped in black, an image of bread, wheat, veggies and fruit, along with the words "Happy Thanksgiving!". There were then layered with eyelets onto these neutral cards and the inside message is simply a Bible verse which says "Give thanks onto the Lord, for He is good." I know that perhaps, I did not spend a lot of time making them, but they look really attractive with this Fall theme. I debated about using leaves, but I did that last year, so decided to do a little different plan this year. I have used the leaves a lot though for cards for other things such as Fall anniversaries, Congratulatory cards, get well cards and of course, birthday cards. Leaves can be used all year long, simply by changing from green tones to the more Fall colors. Love them a lot for any theme. Well, guess that tells you what I have been up to......now, I had better get to work on the Christmas cards too. LOL Keeps me busy and happy. Happy stamping everyone, Verna

This is my favorite time of the year. I can't get enough of the Halloween or fall-themed stuff! I have been working on card projects for both. So far, the Halloween cards use black, orange and white. My fall cards (for Thanksgiving) use a leaf theme with burgundy, green, orange, yellow and gold. As of now, I still have some Halloween cards to finish. I have been finding wonderful colors of cardstock lately.

I started my Halloween cards (every year project! just because I love Halloween! no kids, but KIDS myself! LOL) in September, with Black & Orange. One of my friend asked me to NOT send her a card (knowing I make cards for ALL Occassions...well, maybe not for Memorial day! lol) because of her religious belief, and I respect it. But for me, it's more fun thing, PARTY!! dressing up for whatever I want to be, just once a year thing. Ok, I won't go trick or treating any more, but I have a good memory of Halloween. My Halloween cards are NEVER Scarely, Very Much CUTE!! And I keep my "Leave stamps" for November for "Just because" & Thanksgiving. In fact, Thanksgiving is my most favorite celebration! maybe tie with Christmas! lol

Oh, how much I miss those beautiful color of leaves in D.C. area...since we moved here 5 years ago, we have SUMMER all year around! lol But I decorate our place in FOUR SEASONS, and I have to decorate soon with Halloween things (all Cute things) which I sew & made, incld. a coulple of Halloween card swaps returns. I'm a "Very Seasonal Person ?" (in fact, "Very Monthly theme Person"? ) even I'm living here now on Tropical island! lol

Spooky time

It's orange and black for me. I also like to use purple and lime green for Halloween. Those 4 colors look great together. Green skin on Frankenstein monsters and witches and purple coats and socks. I made Halloween cards for the 6th graders at the local elementary school where I teach science. (I'm a retired HS sci. teacher) They are all pop-up cards with Sizzix die cut bats, ghosts, spooky trees, or pumpkins on the front. I made 60 in all. I line everything up assembly line fashion. It goes very quickly and worth the time. The kids love them.

Char has touched on one of my favorite things- BATS! I just love this time of year because it gives me an excuse to use all of my bat items. Plus, I can wear my bat ears this time of year-LOL! I have an entire collection of bats that I stamp.
This year, I am doing two different halloween cards. I'm doing a card with perfect pearls and bats. I stamped the bats with the Perfect Pealrs Medium. I then brushed copper Perfect Pearls over the bats. I did this on black paper. There is no orange to be found. I also did a card with orange and black. It is dry embossed bats flying over an orange checkered card. These cards were fun & easy.
As for holidays, I like to make cards for all of them. All of my leaves come out for thanksgiving. I love to use my earthy tones to stamp out various cards that feature falling leaves. I am excited to use the new smaller duet leaf. It'll be perfect for thanksgiving this year.
I have two small boys. They are seven and nine. My youngest son celebrates his 8th birthday on November 1st. We have to decorate for halloween in a way that can be put away for his birthday. But, I do think I will always celebrate halloween just because I have to use all of my bats. When else can I wear my bat socks, bat t-shirt & bat ears????

My favorite time of year!! I use black and orange card stock for the nieces and the nephews halloween cards.. With my cute and scary halloween stamps.. I make them treat bags with a few tricks inside.. I haven't yet used my leaves for halloween, love those for Thanksgiving.. But, for their back to school cards, I used falling leaves with the colors of cranberry, sunflower, terracotta and green... I am making calendars for Christmas gifts and on the October page, I am going to try to incorporate the halloween theme with leaves.. Hopefully it will inspire me for a new card design for halloween.. Wishing all of you a Happy Halloween!!
