maybe I should have put other, as I would buy both clear and unmounted rubber, but I do prefer the clear unmounted over unmounted rubber. Especially since you are going to get the kind that needs no cling vinyl. For one, if you had say an alphabet in clear, can you just imagine how EASY it would be to spell out titles etc? just spell it out on your block and stamp EXACTLY where you want it!
I think for me cost/price is alot of the factor, but so is ease of use, and especially with the duets (not that I have any clear duets yet but i have other clear stamps) I do have one regular duet, and I think it'd be easier to use clear!
I think that clear stamps do tend to be more per stamp than unmounted rubber ones, but still 1/3 at least less than mounted, usually, sometimes half. (not that you have to price yours that way but that's what I've pretty much seen online).
Another reason I'm willing to pay more for clear stamps than unmounted rubber (altho less than mounted, I will NOT pay the same price for a clear stamp as a mounted, not because I think it's not as good but really in rubber stamps it's the wood that costs so much), besides the ease of placing the stamped image, is that oftentimes unmounted stamps are only available by the sheet, which is good price wise; a really low cost per image. BUT I am getting pickier about the stamps I buy, and I have a hard time finding a whole sheet where I LOVE half the stamps on it! I have to LOVE at least half the stamps on it, and like most of the rest, to buy a whole sheet of stamps. SO being able to buy in smaller sets, or individuals, is why I'm willing to pay more per stamp for clear, than what I pay per stamp for unmounted rubber. As well as the clear factor being handy for stamping too.
And storage of the stamps is an issue as I live in a small place! unmounted type of ones store better tho there are a zillion methods for it, but the clear ones that don't need cling vinyl store on coated cardstock in a binder. Makes them Really handy and portable too. It's getting to the point where not only do I have to weigh whether or not I can afford the stamp, but if it's also worth the space it will take up; will it earn it's keep? In a year or two I can see me ONLy buying unmounted as I'll have no more room for mounted.
I guess I'd have to say, when buying stamps, this is the order of what I consider:
Design of the image itself
Cost/Price of the stamp
Unmounted/mounted/clear (but this is usually directly involved w/the price, and ease of use is directly involved with figuring out which format I want to buy)
Storage (directly involved w/the format of the stamp, ie, unmounted, mounted, clear, etc).
There are so many images out there both mounted and unmounted that most images available in mounted, there's almost certain to be something similar unmounted. Clear is a much younger product so not as much, but I think it will gain ground.
There might be some concern as to if you can use the clear stamps to "stamp on velvet", you know using an iron to get the impression in velvet. But I don't really plan on doing much of that anyway so I'm not worried about it.
Ok so I've rambled but I think I've covered most everything I think about when I buy stamps.

Sarebear says it so well, puts many of my thoughts and concerns in words. The longer I stamp, the more I see my tastes change and my stamping style change as well, all in a relatively short period of time. I love the clear stamps, have a good number of Posh, more of another companies that clings by itself which is a real plus but you are changing that already. Storage is a big concern, I don't have a stamp room, so space is a thing I must take into account, as well as price.

I have only been stamping for a few months. Most of the stamps that I own are the mounted kind but I do have some unmounted. I am open to anything at this point.

I voted for mounted rubber, but I must say that I haven't tried the clear. Indeed, I've only seen them online, never in person, and have never seen them demonstrated, so I don't know much about them. It seems they would make it easier to place the image where I want it.
SO, if I ever see how to use them, and have someone explain the part about how the stamp needs some sort of "stickie thing" to adhere to the mount, I'd probably be more interested in clear.
For me, too, price is definitely a consideration.
Thanks for taking our interests and wants into account.

I prefer mounted rubber but like unmounted clear, so I guess I'm an other!

If it's a stamp image I want, I'll buy it in any medium I can get it!:D About 3/4 of my collection is wood mounted stamps, I'm the type that uses those stamps I can see the easiest. But if an image isn't available mounted, UM will do fine! And if I have a choice, I'll take the clear UM over the red rubber every time...simply because they're easier to position and use!;)
I'll admit, though I love clear stamps, I seldom spend the extra money to purchase clear mounted stamps...you know, the kinda that come mounted on a clear acrylic mount? Those are just TOO expensive, I can get two or three other stamps for the same price! Yes, they are SUPER easy to use, you don't even have to pull our your acrylic mounts.....but I just can't seem to get past their high price!

I chose "Other" because I prefer a) unmounted clear stamps
b) unmounted rubber stamps
in preference to wood mounted stamps because
a)they are less expensive to buy(and therefore I can afford more!)
b) the mailing is less expensive (and therefore I can order more!)
c)they take much less room to store(and therefore I can store more!)
I do, however, buy mounted rubber stamps if that's the only option in a design that I like as the style is my first priority.
I love being a member of Club Posh - I found everyone very friendly and helpful when I had to change my e-mail address recently. Keep up the good work!

Then about 76% of poll respondents use unmounteds, clears or a mixture. And that is a very good thing!
Many thanks for your input, as we plan to offer unmounteds and clears from an improved source. Your responses to the poll show that we are on the correct path! The results are amazing and encouraging, as until now, we have only sold finished stamps. In theory, Club Posh is made up largely, or at least in part, of stampers and scrappers that use some Posh Impressions stamps.
Look closely at a Posh Ltd. stamp sometime. We will put it up against any other brand for superior construction. Our unmounteds will have the same deep etching and laser cut quality cushion for half the price of the same stamp finished with wooden block and indexing. You can now get the finished in all of our stamps or the unmounted in some of our best, to start. If this is successful, we can add more unmounted.
The clear stamps will be of outstanding quality. Even Dee is now stamping with them. They will not need clinging vinyl or any adhesive. We have searched for the best.
The blocks of top quality lucite for both the unmounted and Clearly Posh will be from the very best source we could find. Use them as paper weights to dress up your desk if you wish. They are that attractive and smooth...all hand sanded. Though you will need no adhesive now when using the clear, of course you will need to use double stick tape or something else when using unmounted. One set will serve for all of your unmounted and clears for a cost cutting investment, and it is sheer joy just to hold the mounts we will have.
We are working hard to have some examples of all of the above on the January site. If not by January 2nd, then soon afterward.
Bottom line is that your response to our survey helped very much. It verified that maybe we are on the right track for providing the best quality we can have produced with a price point at about half of a finished stamp.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all,
Dee and Warren

Warren,
Thank you for the post about the poll results. It sounds like we have some exciting new things to look forward to in the upcoming New Year!
I have been stamping since about June and I personally own a number of the Posh stamps, including some of the Duets. I am very impressed with the quality of the products from the stamp design to the construction. This year I gave some Posh products as holiday gifts to my mother (who is also a beginner stamper). I cannot wait to see how she likes using them. I included one of Dee's books so that she can see all the different uses for stamping and get a look at the finished items.
I am glad to hear about the clear stamps. I look forward to trying them out.

This is a win win win for everybody, as the people who buy mounted's only won't be losing anything, as you will still have mounteds! and for people like me who have only a few posh stamps, half of those being the clear, and who could buy more if there were unmounteds available for less than mounted, it's a great thing! So nobody loses, and everybody wins, the same great quality wonderful designs, pressed or whatever the term is in quality materials, w/quality cushion where applicable (obviously not on clears, unless somebody invented a quality clear cushion lol). I mean it's GREAT to have the options! Sare

I can't wait to see what Posh has instore for us in the coming year! It all sounds very exciting, and expensive for my pocketbook! LOL!! I'll have to try and contain myself, but I don't know how good I could possibly be....;)
Once again, it's good to know that you and Dee take such an interest in what we all have to say! Thanks.

Yippee! Unmounteds, half the price, that is way cool! I must admit I find Posh's prices rather high so I would definitely be in the market for unmounteds. Most of mine come from the clear stamp sale and I love the quality of them! Now I can make my money work for me twice as much!

Michael's is considered discount. We are not. Yet, go price a Posh Impressions stamp in Michaels and you will find that smaller stamps are about $.50 more and the large ones about $1.00 (the last two times we have looked.) They have a 40% off sale, but few would spend time and gas to go purchase one stamp. Something else more expensive is generally purchased. They have other stamp sales and so does www.poshimpressions.com
We have seen Posh stamps in independent stores for two dollars and more per stamp higher than we provide on the web site.
I have never mentioned this before, and have been surprised when I have priced our stamps elsewhere, so forgive me for mentioning it now, but I am not sure that it is usually noticed.
Oh...I believe our clear stamps have been too expensive, as they have come from Australia, and that is one of the reasons we are changing brands, now that we have found an company in the U.S. that produces an excellent product at a reasonable price.
Happy holidays everyone!

Warren...
I agree with you totally as I have just posted on another thread about Posh in Stores... I went comparison shopping at Michaels, Joanns and Pat Catan's.. Posh online, is way less expensive... Unless you have a coupon, you can only get one item for that coupon.. I found that all you have to do is buy 2 items from posh with the shipping charges and you still come out paying less...
Thanks again to both of you!! Waiting to open my christmas presents to see if I will get anymore Posh Products, before I place my order... Can't wait for Christmas!!

I have one of Posh's catalogs. I have also seen the Posh stamps ( what there is) in the store around here. I think the prices on the posh site and catalog are very reasonable. I have seen them more expensive at Michaels here. I am hoping to order some of the stamps after the holidays when money lightens up. Even though the Michaels here carries a few of the posh stamps, they don't seem to carry the stamps that I would be interested in getting. I have ordered a few of the stamps, and I have had great service. I can't always say that for Michaels.

You really can't compare the service you get here at Posh to any Michaels or large chain art supply! The service here is very personal and knowledgable, you certainly don't that from my local Michaels, you're lucky if they know what you're talking about!!! Let's not even talk about how UNfriendly the help is there.
Posh Impressions just can't be beat!!! Service, knowledge, and prices are the best. :D

Well, I don't buy stamps at Michaels... prices are high and they don't have what I want usually... ours carry some Posh stamps but never the ones I want. No duets, for instance.
I was not comparing Posh to other companies... I was comparing the prices to my pocket LOL :) So if they are half as expensive I can afford more and that is very good news for me!
Thank you, Warren and Dee, for making one of the best sites on the net even more affordable!

I must say that I am becoming increasingly fond of the clear stamps. I love the way they let you see exactly where you are putting the image. Absolutely fabulous. They take the ink well and are a dream to clean.

this is the first time i have read this thread. i have a lot of sta ps most of them mounted on wood. i have very few posh because i dont't find many even at joanns. my little stamp store in stoughton has some of the duets but no mounted ones. i got some clear unmounted ones with my last order and eill probably order some more. i wait until i have several items to order and then order so i don't have to pay handling and shiping. also it saves on the taxes. better save on that as long as we can because wisconsin is trying to get it passed that we will pay taxes on everything purchased on the internet.

i don't find the price at micheals toobad. the only thing is not many places have posh stamps. at least not in this area. i did get some of the older ones at michaels. our local store has started to carry some of the duets. so.. i just wait until a need several things and order them from posh. that way i save a little on sh and taxes too.

I definitely like wood mounted stamps and if there are already trimmed and mounted for me, all the better. I hate mounted stamps. I love the when I buy the already mounted and trimmed stamps and then can come right home and start stamping. No hassles of putting them together. :D
I am finding that I much prefer unmounted and clear stamps. It may become easier to use pre-mounted stamps as I become more experienced, but for now I'm even considering removing all my stamps from their mounts. The Posh acrylic mounts make this all possible.

I personally prefer the clear unmounted stamps. Cheaper
on the pocketbook, and so easy to use and place where
desired. Absolutely love the new clear stamps, so easy
to use with the new mounts. :) :)

Rosie,
The clear unmounteds are great! The clear mounts they sell here are also much better than others that I purchased from another company. It makes it soo much easier to use the unmounteds.

McMoore, I agree with you about the new mounts. They are
the best I have worked with. They work great with other
unmounteds that I have from another company that I got
before I knew about Club Posh. I am so glad to have them.
They make it so easy to place the stamps where you
want them on the paper.:) :)
