Hello,
We have a new contest for everyone at Club Posh. For this contest you must use the Rainbow Sponges. You choose the colors. Please use Posh Impressions stamps for this contest. All of the contest entries will be scanned into the Club Posh Idea Gallery.
There will be two categories, cards & scrapbook pages. Posh Impressions will award three prizes for each category. That is a total of six prizes. Each winner will receive a $25.00 gift certificate from Posh Impressions.
Once again, I will host this contest. So you can contact me at stampira@juno.com for my address or with any questions. The contest entries are due to me on February 28th. The contest will be judged the following day. I will post the results to this thread on March 7th. As always, the judges won't know who made the artwork. I will not be one of the judges. Please e-mail me for the information on this contest. Thanks,

Okay, can we use the same card that we are making for the swap?? Don't yell "Slave driver number one" if my question makes it seem like I'm lazy (lol) it may be the New Year, but I'm still tired from the last one!!! :D But if I run out of time, it will make things a lot easier!!

Dear Mary..........would I shout at you.......I would not dare;)

Just trying to rally the troops. Jil and the moderators work so hard to organise things for us, that I just wanted to make sure they had plenty of sign ups:D

Now then..........did you sign up??

Yes my dear, I did sign up! :D I'm a bit challenged when it comes to the rainbow inks though, I haven't practiced with them in a very looong time, so this really will be a challenge for me. I'll hope for the best though...it's all I can do.:p

Do we have to use the sponges or can we use the inks with another technique, i.e. felt?

Either way... count me in! :)

Marta,
This is the Rainbow Sponge contest, so you do need to use the Rainbow sponges with your inks. However, you can use the sponge however you want. For example, I have done the polished stone technique using my rainbow sponges & inks. You decide how you want to use them.

Sounds like fun since I just ordered some inks about a week ago (lol)! Stampire, I sent you a PM to request more info about it.

Happy stamping!

I'm in on this one too, Jil. But I have a couple of questions: Do we get our entries back? If so, are we supposed to enclose a SASE? I want to frame the entry I'll be submitting and for obvious reasons, I'll be sending it to you unframed. But I will need to get it back.

Last question and this is just plain curiosity (nosiness): you stated that you won't be one of the judges. I don't understand why not so, Why not? I'm also assuming that the judges are locally available. Otherwise, do you send the entries to them and they send it back to you?

Thanks for hosting this challenge - this oughta be a lot of fun! What does it take to host something like this and how does one become a host?

Hi, Jil. Count me in on this one too. i just e-mailed you about the swap and contest. Thanks for hosting this. You did such a nice job with the last one. I also appreciated the special card thanking me for participating. But, believe me it was my pleasure!! Happy Stamping!! DebRN

Chi,
The contest entries will not be mailed back to you. They will become the property of Posh Impressions. That will be stated in the e-mail that I send to everyone that has e-mailed me for the information. I am just confirming a detail before I send it out to everyone that has e-mailed me.
As for the judging, I am only an advisory to the judges. I know who made each piece of artwork, so therefore I am not an unbiased judge. We want to handle this in the traditional "Dee" method. She always judges contests without knowing the names of the creators. I do scan the contest entries and e-mail them to the judges. We then talk by phone about each item. I will tell them about the things the scan doesn't show. Some of the things we discuss are embellishments, layering and embossing. Each judge tells me their favorites & we go from there. I hope this makes things clear for you.

I just emailed for more information for the rainbow sponge contest. I came up with an idea from someting I saw earlier. I like the way the card turned out. Can't wait to see it in the idea gallery when the contest is judged.

I was just wondering if anyone has sent their card in for the contest yet? I know mine is on its way. I am really excited about this contest, and I think it will bring out a bunce of new ideas for everyone to see. This is such a nice way for us to be challenged to come up with our own ideas. We are only limited by our imagination. It is nice to be able to do what we want with using rainbow sponges. It is nice to be able to come up with our own ideas.

Teatah,

I haven't sent in my contest entry yet. I only started working on ideas tonight, I wanted to finish my swap cards first. I'm happy to say I finished my swap cards yesterday (they should be in the mail this week) and now I have time to work on the contest. I can't wait to see everyone's results too!

I'll be waiting. I will be making cards and selecting what I think it is the best. It is still plenty of time. This way I have a lot of time playing with my sponges, trying out different ideas :)

I emailed u. I didn't think i'd have the time b ut I was playing w/my stuff for the first time in long time today and came up with something, using an old background I had made way last summer when I was experimenting my first time ever w/the sponges.

Anyway, I had fun making it, wish i had the time to devote to the swap but I don't right now, so it's nice to have the contest be separate as I didn't want to have to make 6 entries again lol.

My contest entry is almost finished. As the inspiration developed, I realized that the perfiect stamp to finish off the card is one I loaned to my daughter when she was visiting for Christmas. I am now at her house helping with a new grandbaby. I will bring it back home with me and get the entry finished next week, and have the card to Jil by the middle of the month.

Keep stamping

Good for you, Gretchen.
I finished my swap and contest cards about a week ago and have to send them in yet. My computer cut off every third sentence of my directions for my cards. Since I am electronically challenged, my hubby said he would look at it and find out what is wrong. Then I can send them in. I am being pulled into the 21st century kicking and screaming sometimes. Thank goodness for my stamping and my good friends at Club Posh. Happy Stamping!! DebRN

My contest card is all finished and in the padded envie. It will go off to Jil tomorrow. Then I will get busy with other projects and wait for the results. Remember all you stampers. Entries have to be to Jil by the 28th. That's just three short weeks.

Keep stampin',

Hi, everyone. I sent my swap and contest cards in last Monday. I feel like you, Gretchen, I am glad to be finished. I have been trying the new marbling technique that Char has told us about. I love it! Now that my cards are done and sent, I can start something new. Now, the waiting begins. I think that is the hardest part. Can't wait to see what everyone has come up with. arrrgh.... I am still working on my swap cards... I am having such a hard time... :( But, I am making progress... I hope to be done by Sunday..... Need a small miracle.. Need to find my inner child I think... :) I am glad I still have time... I watch the video of Dee and then go and try it, and it looks nothing like hers... lol... I know, practice practice practice.... I will be glad when these are done, so that I can move onto a new project.... I am glad that all of you are getting done and getting them sent in.. :) I hope to be saying that soon... :)

just keep on trying. some times i get so far and can't decide on what to do next, i lay the card where i can see it often and just look at it. it may take a day or so but i usually come up with something. the other day it was to ink a sponge and go around the four sides of what i had done. didn't look too bad.

Linda, that is great advice about just laying your card down and looking at it later. Sometimes doing a different project or looking thru a rubber stamper magazine will inspire. Rocksgirl and Mcmoore, I know that your cards will be wonderful! I think that once you realize what is "your way" with the rainbow sponge, you will be free to create your wonderful cards. You can do it!! Happy Stamping!! DebRN

I know what you mean Mary by needing the encoragement:rolleyes:

I had five swaps already to be mailed, when I realised I should have had SIX. Oh dear, no matter what I did I could not reproduce the exact match for the sponged background to make an extra card.

What a dilema, I was so mad with myself for not reading Jils instructions correctly:mad:

Well by 3am this morning problem was solved, talk about burning the midnight oil , but I was determined to enter both the swap and the contest.

I made six new cards for the swap and decided to enter one of my previous five swap cards for the contest.

Hows that for determination?? Now they are in the mail today and I feel lots better. Keep your eye open for them Jil. Hope they make it over the water in time.

Joan, great job. I know what it is like to be driven to get your cards done. I had my swap cards done and I was getting ready to start on my contest card, when....My mom broke her leg in two places while on vacation. I flew down to Mississippi, (I live in Ohio) and flew back with my mom. I got her settled in a rehab facility and, well, you get the picture. I was so stressed out, that my creativity just went out the window. I couldn't get anything to work right for me as far as my stamping. When things with my mom got settled and she was doing well, I did my contest card. It is similar to my swap cards, but different. It is funny how stress can take over your life, in so many ways. I had alot of support from teatah, rocksgirl, and littlejeanie. So, thank you all. This club is there for you in so many ways. It is just great! I can't wait to see all of the new cards. Happy Stamping!! DebRN

designerjoan, I certainly know EXACTLY how you feel. I was experiencing the same problem. No matter how I tried I couldn't duplicate the pattern I wanted to for 6 cards! By the time I got to the 5th and 6th card the ink was lighter or I had to reink and then it was too dark and changed the whole appearance. This Rainbow sponge swap has been a definite challenge. Producing 6 cards is the most challenging part!

Now that your cards are probably safely in the U.S. and on their way to Jil's house, you can relax.

It won't be long now before the we all receive our goody packages and get the rewards of our efforts! ;)

Oh Joan- that is what I call determination! When I say identical, there is a bit of a curve allowed. LOL! But- I probably shouldn't be telling you that now that you made six more cards! In the future, remeber that identical can be a bit different. I just want you to send six cards that are generally the same. That way I don't have to try to decide which one will be kept & scanned to the site. Each card should have the same layout, even if somethign like the color intensity is different. I am really sorry that you stressed so much over this. I am looking forward to getting your cards.

I will tease you all once more. I have been getting a beautiful assortment of swap cards. I am still expecting a few more sets. This is going to be one of the best swaps yet!
On March 1st, we are going to announce another contest & another swap. They will be seperate like the current swap & contest. I have been so impressed with the increasing interest in the swaps and contests. I hope it continues to grow. So, keep your eyes open for the next announcement!

Now you tell me Jil! If you had seen me with eyes that should have been kept open with match sticks the day after the night before...............ROFL

It was only the background sponging I could not get to the right colour:( the rest of the construction was fine, but no matter how I tried I just could not get a reasonable enough match. Anyway, at least I completed the task<g> and as we speak they should be somewhere over the Atlantic.

Do keep your eyes open for TWO packages. The small one has my contest entry and the large one contains my swaps along with a little gift for you. Do let me know when they arrive please, and thank you again for helping us to enjoy these swaps, contests and challenges . Sorry I could not join the dragonfly one..I only have the dragonfly duet, but maybe next time.

Been sidelined the last few months with one of the "low low low" swings of my chemical/clnical depression (no health insurance = no medical help). anyway, I hope i'm coming out of it and hope you aren't too peeved, swap/contest moderators, that I'd said I'd participate and didn't. I want to participate in the new upcoming ones, but will see how things go. Ok- I get to announce the winners even though it was the judges that had to make all the hard decisions! Lucky me! I will first start by telling you there was a little change to the prizes. At first, we were going to award three prizes to cards and three prizes to scrapbook pages. Well, a funny thing happened, we only got two scrapbook pages. So, we were left with one extra prize. Warren made the decision to award an extra prize in the card contest. So, there are now four winning cards and two winning scrapbook pages.
I'm sure you will all be impressed with the contest cards. As I see it, they were all winners. I'm just glad I don't ever have to judge these contests!
Each of the winners will receive a $25.00 credit to spend at the Posh Impressions website. Warren will pm each of you with the exact details.
So, the winners are:
In the card category:
Joan Petty- Designerjoan
Carolyn Summers- Carolyn Summers
Gretchen Tower- Grannystamper
Verna Angerhofer- Vangerhofer

In the scrapbook Category:
Chi Mitchell- rgdragon
Carolyn Summers- Carolyn Summers

Thanks to everyone who played! Now, go check out all of the 14 card entries in the idea gallery!

I will upload the scrapbook pages soon. Plus, there are only 12 of the 14 entries in the idea gallery right now. I am waiting for one member's information before I upload her two contest cards.

I'm having the same problem. I think if we knew the names of those who entered we could check in the members gallery under their names. This seems to be a problem with the "most recent upload" section at the bottom of the Gallery page. It only lets you view the last nine uploads. No page two for this. This may be something for SuperMatt to look into. Maybe he can tell us how to find them. Or how about a new gallery catagory, "Posh Contest Entries." that way we could click and view the contest entries later.

Another thought' I think this is the first time I remember that all the entries were uploaded, not just the winners.

Here is how you find all the entries in the rainbow sponge contest. Go to the idea gallery and then to the member galleries. Just above the first member there is a small section that says all images. It is on the right side. Highlight and enter that area. When you get to that part you should be able to see all of the entrants in the rainbow sponge contest. Hope this helps

I found them too finally by using a search engine, but I would have thought there would have been an easier way. I was always looking for page 2 and couldn't see it either. Anyway they are all great looking entries too. Wow, the talent in this group is overwhelming. Hugs, Verna

At the top of the category list, across from Welcome Whosis and just under the search box it says Recent Posts. You have a choice of last day, last 7 days, last 14 days, or all images. Clicking on 7 or 14 will get you pages 2, 3, 4, etc. of recently posted images, which will include the contest entries.
