Product Reviews

This is the place to rave about new stamping products or ask questions about products you're not familiar with. With all the member in this club, I'm sure someone will know the answers.

In the classroom, Laela had asked about Perfect Medium and Perfect Pearls so I'll start with those products.

Perfect Pearls are powdered pigments that come in little pots in sets of four pots, two brushes and a Perfect Medium pad. You stamp your image with the Perfect Medium and then brush on the Pearls with the small brush and then brush off the excess with the large brush. It gives you a nice shimmery image.

You can also mix Perfect Pearls with water and make a pearlescent paint. The Pearls look best on dark paper, but also have a nice effect on white.

I've also used them on polymer clay and ultra thick embossing powder.

I'd like to add to the Perfect pearls. When you use water the pearls become permanent. You can use perfect medium and or versa mark or rangers embossing ink or anything that you use to emboss. Stamp your image with one of these embossing inks than use the perfect pearls instead of embossing powder for a beautiful shimmer after admiring what you have done spritz it with water and the shimmer remains. perfect pearls has binders already in the mix so the water makes it permanent.

Here is a sample this was made last July for the monthly ATC swap.

KathyNan, this is a great thread with great possibilities. I'm looking forward to learning.

My ATC was stamped with versa mark instead of ink I used perfect pearls and spritzed with water. The images are from Inkadinkadoo.......the flower child

Thanks, Kathy and Lois! Now I know so much more than I did. This is a great thread! I had no idea the image would stand out so well. It's pretty vibrant. I thought it would be a kind of washed out shimmer, but it isn't.

Janet (cardmaker) mentioned her "Print Gocco" machine in another thread. What is it? What does it do?

Thanks for the wonderful tips, especially about the water. Beautiful example, too.

I remember the Print Gocco. Back when Aileene had her craft show it was one of the featured products. I wanted to get one, but it was a little expensive, and I didn't think that I'd actually use it.
I haven't seen it around for years.
It's similar to Provo Craft's Yudu, which is a large personal silk screening machine. The Print Gocco was much smaller, and intended for paper crafting. You might be able to find one on eBay.

Just did a search and found this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gocco

Great thread, learning all the new tools out there is hard but when you have so many great artists here it' s a piece of cake.

Lois, I believe I have one of those great cards, I didn't realize it was perfect pearls.

Nedra, thanks for answering about the Print Gocco. I was just going to reply to the question when I saw your post. I haven't seen them around for years, but I still have a few screens, flashbulbs, and quite a bit of ink. I should resurrect it and use it again. It's great for making large quantities of cards, but it sure can be messy so wear rubber gloves and be prepared to work hard to clean the screens after printing if you want to use them again!

Janet, can you take a pic of it and post it so we can see what it looks like? If not, don't worry. Just an idea.

Laela, I will try to do it this weekend. I wonder if you went to PrintGocco.com if a picture of it would come up?

A friend of mine bought some little mini dollar store spritzers/mister bottles for her perfect pearls...she mixed about 1/4 tsp. of pearls with an ounce or two of water in the bottles and she mists her card stock and then makes cards...lot's of very pretty background stuff... It's been over a year and she still has most of the pearls left because they last "forever" in the mister bottles.
