Stamping Gear

Cha 2012. Is this a must have? Has anyone tried Stamping Gear by Inkadinkadoo?

Yes, yes! I just got mine in the mail Thursday and had a great time playing with it today. I really love this tool and I know I will use it a lot! I made some neat frames. Here are pictures! it comes with a few stamps, mostly decorative, but you can use what you have as long as it is on cushion. Most of these are my own stamps. The blue one is the one in their kit.

I looked it up on-line. There is a You-Tube video. The gears are round or oval with notches. You put the stamp on a holder that fits into the notch so that the image is spaced perfectly around the circle or oval. As April said, once you have the gear, you can use your own stamps if they are on cushion.

The tool is actually a set of gears, thus the name. There is a tool to put your stamp on and you put the tool in the different slots as you go around. Here are some more pictures.

Thanks for the pictures. This is fantastic. It reminds me of the Kaleidescope application of what you can do with pictures. I love this. Thanks. What a neat invention.

It might work well for scrapbooking, are the circles big enough for photos?

Yes, if you use the outsides of the large oval and circle, they are big for scrapbooks. I had so much fun with these. There are so many possibilities!

Thumbs up

TFS, Willy! Your pieces are wonderful! That said? This is definitely not a must have for me.

Has nothing to do with cost. My prob is that it's a 'system' that depends on the stamps coming from the mfr. (please correct me if I'm wrong) If I'm not 'wrong' it fails my 'tool test'--that I can use a tool with lots of stuff & in many ways that go beyond its original intent.

Thanx for the question, Susan. And thanx for the input April et al.

I have been playing some more with my stamp gear, and I keep seeing new ways to use it! First of all I just changed the position of the stamp each time and I got a whole different look. These are the green flowers. This flower stamp is one of mine -- it did not come from the kit. Here are some pictures. On the gold pieces I went wider with the flower for even more of a different look. The last multicolored one, I just made an arch to use over something AND I can see using it for a turkey. It looks like turkey feathers!
