Smile Monthly Challenge

Make 1 new folded card with watermelon or strawberries somewhere on the card and 1 envelope for the size of the card. It does not have to be sent to anyone, just posted to this thread by the end of July. 7/31/12 It could be a never-ending card, a gatefold card, any special fold that you want to give a try. No prizes, only ooh's and ahh's. Lets have fun. M

I have been wanting to try a strawberry using my big shot for some time now. I think this is good reason to try this out. Will post it as soon as I get it completed!

JUne/July Challenge

I just saw this challenge for first time and it is now June 24. We have our 25th year of Celebration of Liberty with our choir next Sunday, so 4 extra practices plus dress rehearsal this week, so doubt if I have anytime to work on this, but hopeto after this is over. It is a wonderful patriiotic performance and Joe and I enjoy singing in it...have all the 25 years, so we sort of know most of the music by now...do add a new one here and there. It is just such a meaningful experience to be part of it, makes you think of what we really have in this country and how we need to be on our knees praying that it will become what it once was again. One of the songs we sing is "God bless America Once more". It was brought out in our SS lesson this a.m. that the verse about "If God's people will pray and turn from their wicked ways, He will restore our country" that this is a conditional promise....the big IF. Something to think about. My sermon for the day.

How creative do you think you are? August is usually referred to as the dog days of summer. Let's do a card with dogs and heat to get our juices flowing. Any colors, any stamps or die-cuts. I will post my card tomorrow.

This is a cute topic and would like to participate, but I don't have any dog stamps, so......will wait for future challenges. Hope you get lots of responses and I'll look forward to seeing them.

Janet, if you have a dog die cut, sticker, photo or hand draw one, you could you that and then use stamps to compliment the dog. There's always a way.

Hot Dog! This sounds like fun. Dogs can cover a lot of possibilities...

Daniel, I don't like where your mind is going. I think they're only talking about the 4-legged canine variety.

Janet you can use pictures of dogs or Crayon books or applique pictures or digital pictures. It does not have to be a stamp just fun.

Janet, when I mail you the fish, I enclosed a cutesy dog. Ok, I'll mail them tomorrow. I temporarily missplaced them.

LOL, Nedra! Mary said 'dogs' not 'canines'. Nice thing about english is how many definitions there are for lots of words.

Sure it refers to Snoopy, Lassie & Benji, but also a tasty edible (saurkraut, mustard & onions on mine), feet (as in my dogs are ouching from walking) & even fireplace equipment (firedogs).

Neat thing about a good challenge like this? Never met one that didn't leave me a loophole. Hmmm mebbee I shoulda gone to law school?

Funny you should say that Daniel because when I thought of dogs and summer, the first thing that came to mind were my feet.

Talking WARNING! History Alert!!!

Do you know why the 'dog days' are in August? Well...

Sirius is known as the Dog Star (Canis Major in latin). It is very visible during August & the Romans thought stars ruled weather--hence 'dog days'.

LOL, Kathy. You've given me an idea! Might do a 'foot' long hot dog! I'd relish that!
