Talking Recycle Challenge #1--March 2013

Old riddle: What's 'black & white and read all over?

Yeah. A newspaper. (some of us still read the hardcopy version)

For this challenge you have to make a project that uses newspaper as a material--& not just as a bit of your project...

Requirements: You must stamp on the newspaper using (at least) one non-sentiment stamp.

That's pretty much it! You are free to use any part of a newspaper you want & you can use colored parts--photos, comics, etc.--as well as just the B&W text parts.

Your entry can include any other material you want to use--long as the newspaper part is not just a small part of your design.

You have the entire month of March to make & share your projects. You can make & share as many as you wish.

Please wait until March 1 to begin sharing your projects, but you are free to comment or discuss this challenge starting today.

Should someone wish to offer a Recycle challenge for April, I would request that they post their challenge the last week of March to avoid confusion.

Oh sure, all our newspapers just got picked up for recycling. I'll have to wait for the Sunday papers now.

Okay Poshies, let's see what you can do with those newspapers.

LOL, Kathy! Ours got picked up on 2/18, but since we subscribe to a daily newspaper, we already have some around for me to play with.

FWIW. Lots of newspapers--especially Sunday ones--have advertising inserts & coupons. I'm going to ask players to not use them for this challenge. Let's just stick with the newspaper's regular sections. OK?

I finished my newspaper challenge, I'm just waiting for the Distress stickles to dry. Seems like a spend I could part of my life waiting for stickles to dry.

Sounds intriguing, Kathy. Hoping to work (more) on mine, but have to let my stomach settle a bit. Hasn't been a great saturday for me so far.

I'm looking forward to seeing what we come up with. Wonder if Sherm will treat us to a foreign language newspaper piece?

While reading the Suburban News I came across the ad for Long Beach Island and a light bulb went off in my head. I knew what I wanted to do as soon as I saw it. The hardest part was looking for my Posh At The Sea stamp set.

I stamped the andirondack chair in white pigment and embossed in white. The grass was stamped in brown and green dye ink. The shell was stamped in clear embossing ink and embossed with pink powder. I drew a sun with yellow stickles.

Mounted the stamped ad with double stick tape to a blue parchment card that was stippled with cornflower blue dye ink. Finished up with straw distress stickles on the bottom and rolling up a small piece of the want ads and gluing it to the chair arm so it looks like a rolled up newspaper.
