Before I jot some notes about the COTM I received for August...everyone, your August cards posted here look fab. How fun. Nice contributions.
![]() Here's my super Summery COTM from Stampwilly. What a wonderful reminder of how Summers should be: at the beach or near water somehow. April said she created the background of the focus (top) layer by applying white and teal acrylic paint to card stock, laying a blank sheet on top and pulling it apart. It reminded her of "waves" and with a combination of different embossing powders she created the sandy foreground. April...did you apply each of those little gold "brad-looking" embellishments onto the teal embossed paper? Wow, that looks tedious. I'm not that patient. I'm happy to be the recipient of someone's patience. Looks fab!! Thank You. OK...onto September... |

April that is lovely! How did you achieve the gold embossing on top of the waves? Was that a background stamp or a technique?

Thanks Sheila and Denise. The waves were made by a technique. I used kraft card stock, put white and teal acrylic paint on the cs, placed another piece of cs on top and pulled the two pieces apart. So you are seeing the kraft paper between the waves. I used various eps at the bottom to make the sand. Some did not look that well, so I kept adding different ones until I got the look I wanted.
Yes, Judi, I applied the the little dots by hand! April |

Here is the lovely Aug. COTM I received from Judi using JudiKins Dutch Treat, Sweeping Dots with Marvy LePlume perm pens. Highlights made with very fine Sakura gelly roll pen. The cardstock and border from a Santa swap. Thank you Judi! — Wendy

To whomever had my name for August. Please do not send another card, if you will just post a photo of it that will be fine. I had a scare and had to go to the ER about the time I would have recd it. And sometimes my brain still doesn't seem to function. It is possible that I may have it and during that time of confusion I may have misplaced it. I am ok. Turned out to be vertigo. Made me feel terribly foolish for getting so panicked(spelling????)and going to the ER.
